The killer is more instantly recognizable and memorable due to the costume design. By eliminating identity and emotion, the masks or hidden faces still fear both audience and characters in the film.
The killer appears more realistic and menacing when dressed simply and everyday because it represents that there danger in everyday life. The SCREAM movie has character that disguised themselves by being themselves like friends or neighbors to then hide that they are trying to kill people in their circles.
The killer's personality or past is frequently reflected in the costume. dirty clothes and a hockey mask. Friday the 13, Jason the killer mother's obsession and childhood trauma are linked to the mask that conceals his abnormal face. His violent past and years of living alone are reflected in the torn, filthy clothing. Also dark hues are frequently used to allude to death, danger, and mystery.
Authority Figures
Common Costume are police, teacher, and security uniforms. Signifies safety or order in society; often weakened when they are not able to find the murderer. Sheriff Brackett from Halloween wears a police uniform to demonstrate his authority, but he is not always able to stop the characters
Other characters
Background characters side character dress usual or quirky not to out do the main characters.
The final
The victims usually have scars, wounds and blood on them to signify the death of others or the killer by showing blood. Ripped or dirty closed from the journey they took throughout the film of trying to survive.
